Asurya's Embers

A long time ago, this beautiful region was plagued by warfare. In order to protect the people from danger, the village initiated a tradition of electing a village protector. In the game, the player assumes the role of Dawa, the newly appointed protector. The story begins following Dawa’s completion of her meditation training in isolation. As Dawa embarks on her first day in the role, she learns that the natural balance of her world has been upturned by scorching skies and the arrival of mutated animals. Upon consulting with the village elders, she realizes that there is a more significant problem at hand...

Wield the Protector’s Bow and unleash mythical powers passed down through generations to protect your people by slaying mutated, demonic animals.

Immerse yourself in the spectacular environment of the Himalayan regions as Dawa, the bow-wielding village protector. Asurya’s Embers is a first-person, single-player, bow-and-arrow adventure game where you embark on a journey to save your home from the wrath of a vengeful god.

Music

I was a composer for Asurya's Embers, which blended idle and combat music to create an immersive environment. This was the first videogame I composed on. The game was set in the Himalayas, so we studied the region's instrumentation and musical styles and incorporated them into our work.

I composed and mixed combat music for Asurya's Embers, specifically the main combat theme and the approach and combat theme for the Pangolin boss. I also wrote a short stinger for when the player dies in the game, using fire sound effects. For the tracks I composed, I worked with a Sarangi (live) and Madal, Guzheng, and Bansuri (sampled).
